MISSION STATEMENT: The mission of the Gage County Assessors Office is to provide accurate, fair and equitable tax assessments to all taxpayers of the county and in accordance with current state statutes and regulations. RESPONSIBILITIES: The county assessor is responsible for discovering, listing, and valuing of real property(residential, commercial/industrial, and agricultural/horticultural) for tax purposes. Additionally, the county assessor processes personal property tax returns, homestead exemption applications, and tax exempt applications from government and non-profit organizations. GENERAL INFORMATION: The county assessor is an elected position with a term of office of four (4) years. To file for election or serve as county assessor, you must hold an Assessors Certificate issued by the Nebraska Property Tax Administrator. The certificate is issued based on the passing of an exam covering the duties of assessor and the holder is required to complete continuing educational requirements to maintain the certificate.
